城市建筑三维模型（Three Dimensional City Model, 3DCM）是数字地球、智慧城市建设的重要框架数据，其三维重建工作一直是摄影测量计算机视觉和计算机图形学中的基础研究问题。在建筑物模型的生成过程中，不同的部门根据自身的标准规范和行业需求，利用不同的数据和方法构建了本部门使用的3D建筑物模型，然而这些三维模型在尺度和精度等方面有着较大的差异，尤其缺少模型空间结构关系及语义表达，造成了数据重复采集而感知计算困难的矛盾局面。因此，如何快速、有效的建立起具有空间结构关系的3D建筑物模型已成为困恼地理信息科学领域的一个重大难题。

不同于以往重建视觉逼真的三维表面模型，博士期间主要研究从机载点云中重建具有结构、空间关系、能够提供可编辑可分析的3D建筑物结构化模型。
